As the population of St Helena Parish continues to age, we as public safety and law enforcement officials must develop cooperative strategies to keep our seniors safe.

Our seniors come from a more trusting generation, and therefore are often the target of scam artists. The Triad program is one way we can all work together to keep St Helena Parish safe for our senior citizens.

Please join us in this partnership. Together we can make a difference.

Triad has been sponsored nationally by the AARP, the National Sheriff's Association and the International Association of Chief's of Police since 1988.

Triad represents the three components of the program: the sheriff’s department, community agencies and senior citizens. The program targets senior citizens in the parish who live alone, are alone most of the day or are in frail health. The Triad deputies drive marked TRIAD sheriff vehicles to help residents identify them. The TRIAD officers check on the well being of anyone that wishes or needs to be checked on. They cover all the area of the  parish and will be there rain or shine. TRIAD visits your family, friends and neighbors.

Although TRIAD was started here in 1992, TRIAD is not a new concept and there are many TRIAD organizations throughout the United States. Triad’s purpose focuses on creating partnerships to address the issues that affect older citizens. Our goal is to increase the safety and security of our community by a reduction in the criminal victimization of the elderly. We accomplish this through education and by empowering seniors to find solutions through programs and activities or by utilizing the support of the various resources and agencies in the community.

The sole purpose of Triad is to promote senior safety and to reduce the unwarranted fears of crime that seniors often experience.

TRIAD DEPUTIES

Roy Porter, Jr, Hazel Allen, Deb Pruett, Laurie Sibley

Deputies Porter and Pruett patrol the parish and visit the elderly. Deputy Allen mans the North substation and phones the elderly to check on them.  Deputy Sibley not only handles abuse to the elderly cases, she is also a road deputy.
